Columbus PTA

The Parent Teachers Association (PTA) is the largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation! We are so much more than fundraisers for our schools. The PTA has been a not for profit organization for more than 100 years, dedicated to providing support information and resources for families focused on the health and education of children.
The objectives of the Columbus PTA:

  • To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, and community
  • To raise the standards of home life
  • To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth
  • To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth
  • To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, and social education
  • To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children, and to encourage parent and public involvement in the school

Meetings are held the 2nd Monday of every month. Times will vary.

Being involved in PTA is fun and rewarding! Meetings are not for everyone, but everyone has a way that they can help!

How do I become a member?

Becoming a member means that you are recognized as an active member of PTA statewide and nationally. Reach out to the Membership Chair, fill out a form and the cost is $5.00. ($.25 goes to the Columbus PTA)

Do I have to pay to be involved?

No. You can volunteer and help out as much as you would like without being a paid member. If you would like to vote on PTA items or be an officer then you would need to become a paid member. Higher active membership numbers reflect better on the school, which is why we like you to join!

Do I have to come to meetings if I just want to help out once in a while?

No, you do not have to attend meetings if you don't want to. We like it when people come to the meetings so we can hear different points of view and input, but we understand that everyone's lives are busy.

If I sign up to volunteer for one thing, do I have to keep helping out all school year?

No. You can help out as little or as much as you would like. We email or call with updates because we want to make sure everyone is included. If you decide you do not wish to be updated, just let us know and we will take you off the list.

What if I have an idea for the PTA?

If you have an idea you would like to share, please reach out to the Columbus PTA President or come to the next PTA meeting. If you want to ensure that we have adequate time to talk about it, let the President know and they will add it to the agenda.
